"Sweatshirts for Seniors" - December 5, 2004

Concordia Lutheran, in conjunction with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, performed a community project entitled "Sweatshirts for Seniors". Using a Thrivent grant, and a 10% discount from WalMart, close to 100 sweatshirts were purchased, washed and hand painted. These sweatshirts were then distributed to the elderly residents at Linwood Gardens in Visalia along with home-baked cookies and the singing of hymns and Christmas Carols. The elderly in our communities are typically overlooked and are very lonely. Concordia thought it would be a good use of volunteer hours and Thrivent's generous "Care in Community" money to not only visit some of Visalia's elderly, but to also provide them some physical and spiritual warmth as well.

What a wonderful experience!
